FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

Do buyers pay any fees on LotWagon?

No. Buyers pay zero fees, ever. There is no buyer's premium and no marketplace surcharge. The price you agree with the seller is the price you pay the seller, plus any applicable sales tax and the freight you arrange.

How does buying work?

Browse a lot, send an inquiry from the listing, and inspect the equipment in person where it sits — at the seller's warehouse or dedicated premises, with the location shown on each listing — before you commit. The purchase is then completed under a purchase agreement between you and the seller — the seller invoices you directly. LotWagon is the marketplace, not the seller.

Can I inspect equipment before buying?

Yes — inspection is the point of the model. Inspections are by appointment at the lot location shown on the listing. We strongly encourage inspecting; a buyer who buys without inspecting does so at their own risk as to condition, subject to their agreement with the seller.

Who do I pay, and how?

You pay the seller. The seller invoices you directly under your purchase agreement. Where online payment is offered for a listing, it is processed by Stripe; LotWagon never holds your payment as the seller of the equipment.

What does it cost to sell on LotWagon?

A flat 8% of the sale price on each completed sale, plus Stripe's processing fees. No listing fees, no monthly fees, and buyers pay nothing. Your equipment stays with you until it sells, you set the price, and you keep the final say on every deal.

How do I start selling?

Start on the Sell with LotWagon page. We build your inventory a dedicated lot page from your documents — specifications, quantities, and condition — presented so buyers can inspect with confidence.

Who handles shipping and removal?

Title and risk pass from seller to buyer as your purchase agreement provides (by default, when the buyer or their carrier takes possession at the lot — EXW). Buyers arrange and pay their own freight; the Freight page explains how quotes work for equipment leaving the Elizabeth lot.

What about returns?

Returns and warranty claims are between buyer and seller under their sale agreement — the seller is responsible for them, because the seller is the party to the sale. LotWagon's Terms of Service set out the framework.

How is sales tax handled?

Where applicable, LotWagon calculates, collects, and remits sales tax on marketplace sales as a marketplace facilitator, using Stripe Tax. If you are tax-exempt, provide a valid exemption or resale certificate before payment.
